Expansion and Closure Information

Special Collections and Archives at Cabell Library is closed due to a major, multi‑year project. This work includes moving archival collections from the Health Sciences Library, expanding facilities and repairing the roof–all affecting the fourth floor of Cabell Library. The department will reopen in 2028 in expanded and redesigned space.

Accessing and using materials

While closed, Special Collections and Archives’ onsite material are not available. VCU Libraries apologizes for any inconvenience. The closing ensures the long-term preservation of the collections during a construction project that will improve the storage and research environments.
