Cabell Library Lactation Room
Cabell Library offers a lactation room on the fourth floor. This space is quiet, relaxing and private for those who need to pump or feed a baby.
The lactation room offers:
- Medela Symphony pump
- Comfortable seating with a small table
- Low lights and privacy
- Sink and mirror
- Refrigerator
Available during library hours, this room is free to use and accessible via VCUCard access. Students, faculty and staff at VCU can go to the Information Desk in the Cabell Library lobby to request access, or contact Loftan Hooker at (804) 828-8658 or hookerl2@vcu.edu. Once registered, a person can reserve the room online.
The room is also available to visitors to campus. Those who would like immediate or temporary access to the space may request use at the Information Desk. Staff will escort a user to the lactation space. Arranging a meeting or conference on campus? Cabell staff can assist you and your attendees who need access.
Spacious and accessible universal bathrooms on the third floor and lower level of Cabell Library offer changing tables. There are no changing tables in the lactation room.
The purpose of this room is to provide a comfortable, private space for parents to pump milk, or to nurse/feed their babies. However, babies may be fed anywhere in Cabell Library based on the parents’ or caretakers’ preferences.
