Information circulating on campus and on social media on Friday, Oct. 11 regarding bed bugs in Cabell Library is false. 

There is no evidence of bed bugs in the building nor have any reports of their presence been made to library staff.

VCU Libraries follows a strict protocol of confirming, inspecting, removing and roping off (closing to users) any furnishings or areas effected. If a report of potential bed bugs is deemed credible by VCU Facilities, the libraries facilities staff works with VCU Facilities and the university’s contracted pest management service to schedule an inspection of the area and, if appropriate, treatment. VCU Facilities is responsible for pest control decisions on campus.
