Are you interested in NIH grants? There’s a new data policy for proposal due dates on or after January 25, 2023. These new data management and sharing requirements will affect all NIH-funded research that produce scientific data. 

VCU Libraries is collaborating with the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation, the Data Science Lab and the Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research to support VCU researchers in this new policy. The libraries offer the DMPtool, which has templates for writing the new Data Management and Sharing Plan (DMSP). VCU Libraries also supports the Open Science Framework, which the NIH has approved as a generalist repository for preserving and sharing researchers’ non-sensitive scientific data.

Research data will be shared sooner and by more studies than before. For many research teams, this change will require updating data workflows during data collection, cleaning and analysis.
