Journal Menorah Review now on VCU's free digital scholarly platform Scholars Compass
March 12, 2018Menorah Review is now available on VCU's free scholarly platform Scholars Compass. Menorah Review was a journal dealing with all areas of Judaic culture, published by the Virginia Commonwealth University Center for Judaic Studies in 83 issues, from 1984 to 2015. The journal examined Jewish experience in its varied dimensions, featuring review essays of contemporary books, original articles on Jewish themes, poetry, and annotated "briefings" about books and journal articles.
Founding editor Jack D. Spiro, who served as the Harry Lyons Distinguished Chair in Judaic Culture at VCU and director of the VCU Center for Judaic Studies, was the journal's editor for its entire run. Issues 1 to 58 were only published in print. From issue 63 to 83, the journal was published electronically. Print copies of the Review (up to issue 62) are available in Special Collections and Archives at James Branch Cabell Library.
