The James Branch Cabell Lecture Hall, in high demand by various groups, is now available for reservation requests through the VCU Event Management System.

The Lecture Hall (room 303) is a gathering space for the VCU academic community. Priority use will be for marquee, high-profile scholarly events or other VCU community events that have universitywide, broad appeal. Types of events potentially appropriate for the lecture hall include lectures, panels, forums, book talks, readings, opening receptions for exhibits, addresses by university leaders, etc. The lecture hall is not intended for classes, study sessions, general meetings, student events, non-VCU fundraisers or social events such as weddings. It is also not well suited for conferences that require multiple break-out rooms or discussion spaces. And because it is housed in an active library building, the room is generally not used for musical performances, dances or other loud events.

The lecture hall is generally booked in sync with the academic year. Many events will be scheduled in May-July, 2017 for the entire August-May 2017-18 academic year. 

The Lecture Hall is a large, open, flat-floor auditorium that allows for multiple funiture configurations. It has sophisticated AV, including a large screen for presentations. It seats up to 300 in a lecture-style chair arrangement (rows of chairs).
