Tours open Cabell Library to community visitors
June 20, 2016The bold, new James Branch Cabell Library officially opened in 2016. The building, called "an instant landmark" by a respected architecture critic, is getting noticed. Members of the university and Central Virginia community have expressed interest in getting a close look.
In response, clusters of tours have been scheduled just for community visitors. (Usually, library tours are reserved for students and faculty.)
The 45-minute tour will focus on new spaces such as the Reading Porch, the terrace, the Lecture Hall, and the innovative media and makerspace area called The Workshop. This example of the best of today's modern academic libraries provides more spaces for study, reflection, collaboration, discovery, creativity and research.
