VCU Libraries honored with PR Awards
July 24, 2014VCU Libraries public services and development materials have garnered notice.
The New Building Website received a Best in Show honor in the American Library Association's PR Exchange Awards program.
The Academic Library Advancement and Development Network, which brings together academic library fundraising and marketing professionals, librarians and deans, gave VCU Libraries three awards.
VCU Libraries received the top honor--Best in Show--for the Momentum report, a literacy-level brochure developed to educate donors about the state of today's academic research library at VCU and the need to grow. ALADN awards were judged by five non-librarian media consultants. Best in Show was determined by popular peer votes. According to organizers, we won by a landslide for best in show.
Also honored were:
- Best Campaign Materials for the Moving Forward brochure designed to raise money for and awareness of the new library on the Monroe Park campus.
- Best Collection Materials for Your Compass, the 36-page booklet VCU Libraries produced for use in classes, at Library Fest and other outreach events. Compass is the backbone for our 2013-15 public services campaign--that includes posters, keycards, handbills.
And, two VCU Libraries items received Awards of Merit in the 2014 Virginia Public Relations Society Awards. Our brochure series featuring Friends of Library membership, events and services and the collection at Tompkins-McCaw Library was a winner. Also honored was the Friends of the Library e-newsletter.
