The Academy blog debuts: Insights for faculty about libraries and academic work today
April 10, 2014VCU Libraries new blog The Academy debuts with a column by University Librarian John E. Ulmschneider about the vital information being gathered from faculty participating in a current survey about how they approach their research.
VCU Libraries serves the academic community in the broadest possible ways. It is hoped this new blog will reach faculty, researchers and all in our academic community with interest in issues, concepts and trends influencing scholarship and research in today’s digital age.
The Academy is for the big-picture, the complicated, the bold, the new, not the day-to-day. You won’t find calendar-of-event information posted here, for instance. But you may find a video of an important talk on scholarly communication, an informative essay on data management, a report fresh from a national conference on innovative uses for media in teaching, or a Q&A on the future of publishing. You will also find, from time to time, profiles about researchers and the connection of their work to VCU Libraries resources and expertise.
Comments will be open on The Academy to encourage conversation in our academic community.
